“Doug is both inspirational and effective. He has a way of playing piano that makes you feel completely supported and elevated, and he has a knack and passion for teaching that is infectious. He is a scholar of music who understands what it takes to be a performer. It is all this and more that makes Doug one of my favorite people to work with.”

I've had many wonderful teachers throughout the years, but none have impacted my voice and spirit as Doug has. His knowledge, understanding and love of the human voice is boundless. His level of expertise is matched by an almost baffling ability to intuit a singer’s needs and learning style in any given moment. He is utterly present and therefore capable of making each choice in a lesson based on what is happening with the singer. The result is a session that feels almost improvisational in nature and entirely unique to you. My voice is the healthiest it's ever been, and somehow, I never feel like I'm being taught "technique." What I do experience is the thrill of being guided back inward and shown how to forge my own connections between my voice, my body, my brain, and my breath. If you have the opportunity to study with Doug, take it. There is no teacher who will reveal your voice to you with more mastery. There is no teacher who will handle your humanity with more care.
***** ALL OF THIS SOMEHOW STILL APPLIES OVER ZOOM. HE'S THAT GOOD.” *****

"Doug Peck is easily one of the most incredible voice instructors and musicians that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He has a wealth of knowledge that I don’t even think money should be able to pay for! It is remarkable the way my vocal technique and even the way I think about and approach singing has shifted. Doug is TOP TIER! He finds a way to make all of my lessons seem personally tailored to who I am, my voice, my journey and my artistry! It doesn’t get any better. I cannot wait to see all of the future breakthroughs and triumphs!"

'As you can imagine, it was far from easy finding a gifted, collaborative music director who could prepare and perform a televised concert, rehearsing, conducting, playing (keyboard), and arranging music for such a diverse array of styles, in solos, duets, trios, and including a gospel choir. We could not have made a better choice than Doug. He was quite simply superb. The resounding success of the concert, and subsequent accolades (including five Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award nominations and three wins), was in no small part due to Doug’s knowledgeable, accomplished, and truly creative contributions.
I have since worked with Doug again, including his musical direction of For the Love of Lyric, a virtual gala concert that included everything from Mozart to The Wiz, also with major vocal artists. I look forward to other opportunities to work with him."

“About a year ago I signed on to my first musical project. I’ve always sung for fun, but I’ve never been properly trained, and I knew I wanted to work with a coach to make sure I felt comfortable and confident. A mutual friend recommended Doug. Full disclosure, I was terrified for my first lesson because I knew from a technical standpoint I had a lot of work to do. But the second I walked through Doug’s door he made me feel so incredibly comfortable and special and worthy. He also immediately made me feel like my goals were easily within reach and made it fun to work towards them. Not only has he strengthened my voice immeasurably, but he has also given me such confidence in my ability. I never feel judged or scared of trying something new. And I truly feel like the sky is the limit with Doug by my side. No matter what level or what your goals are he is down to work with you. I leave every lesson with a smile on my face. I just can’t say enough good things.”

“Simply put, Doug Peck is one of, if not the best, rehearsal pianists I have ever encountered in over thirty years of directing musicals. He plays the piano like a percussionist eager to fill in all the blanks in the rehearsal room. We did INTO THE WOODS at the Hollywood Bowl under Maestro Kevin Stites’ baton and I marveled every day at how Doug was able to play that notoriously hard, reduced piano score and make it sound like the full orchestra was being represented. He was fleshing out what wasn’t there on the page because he knew, and loved, the score that well. And then there is the fact that he is a delightful, often hilarious, deeply good human being who stands for everything right and just. I pray our creative paths cross again one day whether he be at the keyboards or behind the podium.”

"Doug has helped my 10-year-old son tremendously in developing his vocal technique and learning how to properly harness the power of the voice as a musical instrument. Doug is an exceptionally knowledgeable and deeply caring teacher who creates an idyllic learning environment for a young performer. My son refers to him as a “magical singing wizard” because he is able to bring out a top-notch performance in a deeply nurturing yet professional environment. Due to their work together, my son has a newfound confidence in his vocal capabilities that he did not have prior to working with Doug. We are so grateful for having Doug in our lives!"

“[Hayley] had a similar moment with ‘The Only Exception’. Despite adding it back to the setlist during their ‘This Is Why’ headline run and knowing she would perform it in the middle of those stadiums on Eras Tour, Hayley still felt uncomfortable about a gooey love song she’d written when she was a teenager … her vocal coach had a word. “He said, “You’re in a band with your partner. Just look at him and pretend nothing else ever existed’” … “This tour completely changed my relationship with that song. Now when I sing it, I feel happy.”

"Doug Peck changed my relationship with my voice. In our short time together I learned how to communicate through song. I learned to trust my sound, and to make friends with it. And to stay in gratitude that I have one! His patience, kindness, sense of humor, grace and faith buoyed my confidence as an actor who sings. I couldn’t adore him more. It is no wonder that some of the greatest voices today trust Doug with their voices, and the deep dive he fosters to connect to the deepest part of oneself through song."

"I’m terrified of singing in public. I worked with an incredible vocal coach, Doug Peck, who taught me so much more than just singing. I’m thinking it’s gonna be funny exercises and weird sounds. It was the opposite. He taught me about the science of vocal cords, about singing as a muscle and a process. We worked from the inside out. We built my spirit up and helped me understand my body and the power of it. It really did change my life. It was like therapy. I cried with him. He’s the most loving person. Doug really taught me how to step into myself and gave me the confidence to do so with the safety and the trust that was created. That really allowed me to let go of the voices in my head that told me I wasn't capable of doing this and just try it. Knowing Doug was always there to help if I was struggling - it's a really good feeling.
And that’s the reward - forcing myself to face something that I was genuinely terrified about, then doing it, and then knowing I could do it. That made me really proud of myself. I never would have done it without him."

“Doug is the most perceptive and intuitive voice teacher I’ve ever worked with. Instead of running through a pre-baked set of vocal exercises, he listens closely, pays attention, and responds to whatever is happening moment to moment with just the right insight or solution. He points out subtle things happening in my body and my voice that I would never have noticed myself. And even though he works with the biggest pop stars, Broadway legends, and opera divas, a lesson with him always makes me feel like there is nothing in the world more important to him than my personal joy and success as a singer. Working with him has helped me dissolve hurdles and unlock doors that have stymied me for years, whether we’re focusing on something I’ll sing with a symphony orchestra or in a solo show accompanied only by a piano. Our lessons together have helped me build a suite of skills and tools together that have made singing easier and more fun. “
